How To Stop Sweaty Armpits

No I'm not talking about the kind that can be taken cared of by simply using a deodorant/anti-perspirant. I'm talking about severe sweating that your clothes get soaked with perspiration even if you use anti-perspirants. To say that this can be embarassing is truly an understatement.

Yes it is quite normal to sweat heavily specially when it's hot. For some people, however, sweating is a big problem even if at normal temperature levels. This hub will show you how to finally stop sweaty armpits so you can gain back your confidence and lead a happy, normal life.

What You Can Do To Stop Dripping Armpits

Excessive sweating in the underarms is a medical condition called axillary hyperhidrosis by doctors. Here's just a some of the things that you can do to stop sweaty armpits along with the odor that comes with it.

  • Keep your body clean. Avoid reusing clothes that you have worn before specially if you have perspired on them.

  • Chili, onions, garlic, alcohol and coffee can stimulate sweating. Avoid them as much as possible.

  • Regularly apply anti-perspirant. I know that some cases are so severe that anti-perspirants don't work. Read on and I'll tell you how to deal with the severe cases.

  • If you start sweating because of anxiety or panic attacks, treat the cause of the problem. Sounds common sense but you'll be surprised how many people neglect using common sense.

  • Botox can help you treat excessively sweaty underarms. However, keep in mind that Botox ® is just a treatment and not a cure. The effect will eventualy wear off and you have to do another treatment. This can be expensive.

  • Use a stronger anti-perspirant that contains aluminium chloride solution. Anti-perspirants that contain aluminum chloride are proven to help with excessive sweating. Certain Dri ® cost only $4.69 from Amazon.

  • Iontopheresis, may help if hyperhidrosis is so severe that even aluminum chloride solution can't remedy. It involves putting the affected area of skin in a liquid. A small electrical current is passed through the liquid. This is not painful or unpleasant but the treatment has some effect on the sweat glands.

  • As a last resort, you can try surgery but this is risky. Surgery doesn't always work and if it does work, there's a chance that sweating will start elsewhere in the body.

It's always best to consult your doctor if your underarm sweating is severe.

Great hub! There is new scientific research that indicates that there might be a risk when using antiperspirants on a regular basis (specially for women: enhanced risk of breast cancer). So if in doubt, use the natural methods that the creator of the site recommends.
