If you want long distance paper airplanes, gliders would be your best bet. They are floaters and they can travel for long distances. One thing to remember is that gliders fly better in calm weather conditions. If you have access to large covered area, it would be perfect for flying the glider.

The Pelican Paper Airplane actually resembles a moth. It's wide wingspan lets run fly on and on. Ideally, the pelican is launched from an elevated place in a calm environment. This will help its stable flight.
The pelican is based on a design by H. Riley Watkins. It's moderately easy to fold and requires a letter size sheet.
The Kingfisher Paper Airplane
If you like elegant curvesyou really should try folding and flying the kingfisher paper airplane. You can fly this paper plane outdoors but heavy paper is recommended for best results.

The Sea Gull Paper Airplane

The Albatross Paper Airplane is what I like to consider an "all-purpose" glider. It has a heavy and extra vertical stabilizers. It can be made to float or do acrobatics. This paper airplane is moderately easy to fold and requires a letter size sheet.
The Kookaburra Paper Airplane
The Kookaburra Paper Airplane is based on a design by Campbell Morris. You'll need a letter size sheet and it's moderately difficult to fold. This particular model has a unique landing gear that adds to its stability. If you feel like practicing table top landing, this is the plane to practice with.
